Videos for rained out practice...
Hmmm.. that "one piece take away" that coach mentions. I like how she was able to discover this on her own and teach her Dad/Coach.
One piece 'quiet hands' take away. You'll see how she only shows the first foot and a half or so. You've also heard me mention how this also keeps your tension level down as well. B.R.A.T. - Balance, Rhythm, Alignment, & Tension... game makers or breakers. |

Chipping.. (not PITCHing) hopefully you've all heard me mention that there isn't any hinge with the wrist in this shot. You'll see here how she keeps her hands quite. She starts with her hands a bit forward. If you do that do NOT let your hands go so far forward so the end of the club is pointing at your hip. That's TOO far. You'll also see how she starts "neutral", the ball is in the middle and THEN if you want to move your toes toward the target you move only your toes. You'll see how she pivots on her heels to accomplish that.

Watch this slow motion swing. Her fundamentals are, well.. fundamental. You may have seen me throw a club down at your feet, then as we bring your hands back at the 'parallel' point your arms, club and everything line up parallel with your target line. You'll see on this video (and feel free to pause it) that when the club is facing directly at the camera you can see how it's parallel.
This is a move you can practice at home in the house. Stand on a line that would represent where your ball is.. your target line (tile or carpet or whatever). Imagine taking the club back, your left arm (if you're a right handed player) should be parallel to the target line. Please ask me to show you this when we are on the range! |

For your brain...
Watch the similarities. ... There are a bazillion different golf swings. They are almost like finger prints. If you watch them enough you can see subtleties that differentiate them. What I want you to learn now is what is similar with them all. That's where you need to start. In time you'll work on all those fancy words you hear on the golf shows/whatever. Stick to what's common with ALL swings. Watch this video and notice where their hands are at the parallel point. What where their heads are. Watch the balance. Where are their hips (leading the way.. NOT their hands.) When you all have put on about 30+ pounds of muscle then you'll be able to hit it as far as them. But.. first you need to develop your foundation. When you have your foundation you can then build upon it. Without a good base.. nothing will stand long.

You need to have a good mental image of a swing. Use these for now. Generating distance is not about how fast you sling the club around your body, it's about the sequences that come together to create the physics that will propel the ball farther than any 'slinging' can. Speed and distance will come. Watch and imprint the fluid and smoothness. The speed will come.
